about

Berardi's debut solo album. A colorful collection of evocative atmospheric soundtrack-like instrumentals, featuring a wide palette of instruments, musical and otherwise. Along with his usual range of percussion, Berardi uses tinkly keyboards, marimbas, synths, things with strings, broken toys, electronics and found sounds, all in the service of his cinematic compositions.

He merges and short circuits hypnotic pulses, atonal haze, compelling melodies and mysterious voices to create a dramatic or humorous brew. Each piece feels like an abbreviated film score, or maybe a mini vignette or montage inhabited by the cast of a theater of the strange. The moods are many, the sounds are varied, but Berardi’s distinctive writing and arranging style is consistent throughout.
